On your shoes, I'm not sure if it is plastic or rubber or some blend of the two.
In general, many plastics can be altered with acetone (typical polish remover). You might try the ';other'; kind of polish remover (i.e., non-acetone) or test a small area to see if you see color changes.
I'm not too sure of acetone / rubber interactions, but probably not good either. Is nail polish remover harmful for plastic?does it change plastic's colour?
Acetone remover will ';melt'; shoes. Try the non acetone kind.

no bleach will polish remover no
well, if it does stain them, you can always paint over that again
THe active ingredient in nail polish remover is acetone, the stuff eats throug alot of thigns, plastic, CDs, styrafoam. If you like your shoes, do not risk it.
Acetone (used in a lot of nail polish remover) does change the color of plastic. I once spilled some in my car and it discolored the cup holder in the center console. I had to spend like 50 bucks to replace the part.
As far as I know it does not..
