No, they're impact marks. You know? Like when you slam your finger in a door---it leaves a white mark.
Or are you talking about the crescent under your cuticle? This is the end of your growth plate showing under your nail. This is where your nail grows from.
it could be an old wise tale but really its just damage to the nail from bumping it.
It could be a calcium deficiency or calcium deposits.I would say it depends on your calcium intake.
