My finger started hurting yesterday, right next to the nail. It hurts to touch it on anything......?

I was having a garage sale yesterday and out of nowhere my finger started to hurt. It's to the left of my middle fingernail. It was kind of throbbing yesterday and I put rubbing alcohol on it to see if their appeared to be any area that had an open wound but I didn't see anything. I put ice on it, didn't help much. I took some advil and it helped a bit. Today their is a more pronounced bump and towards the top of the bump it appears to be a light yellow/green color. I don't recall feeling like I was bit by anything, I didn't slam my finger in anything, and I didn't have any incidents where I felt like I got a splinter of anything. Does anyone know what this could be and how to make it stop hurting? I did make an appointment for tomorrow but what can I do for now and what the heck is it? Thanks and serious answers only please. My finger started hurting yesterday, right next to the nail. It hurts to touch it on anything......?
it's called a ';whitlow'; I think, just the skin next to your nail got snagged and should be okay, keep an eye on it incase it gets worse cos they can get infected.

I had the exact same thing and had to have it cut at hospital cos it got infected. try just bathing it in salt waterMy finger started hurting yesterday, right next to the nail. It hurts to touch it on anything......?

it is infected. could be from anything.

you could try sterilizing a needle and popping it...all that green yellow should be puss and will come out. gently squeeze the puss out...that is infection and the more you get out, the better.

after, clean it thoroughly, apply some neosporin and put a band aid on it. you should still go to the doctor and have it checked out. not much more he will do for the finger but he will give you antibiotics which are important.
maybe an ingrown nail.

but you may use neosporin and see if it helps. sounds like it is infected.

good luck!
