nopeIs it possible to use human nail clippers on a dogs feet? Have you done it? Any tips?
I wouldn't. Dogs' nails are MUCH thicker. Is it possible to use human nail clippers on a dogs feet? Have you done it? Any tips?
only on a very small dog.
Bigger dogs need higher power clippers. Using a small clipper on them will just crush the nail instead of cutting it and will hurt the dog.
It Will hurt the animal if you try that ,especially if we're talking about a big dog. the nail will have a tendency to slip away from the blades and will twist in the nail bed and cause your dog pain. I wouldn't be surprised if he fought you the next time you tried to cut nails.
A tiny, tiny dog...maybe. But larger dogs with larger nails need dog clippers. I've tried the new Quick Finder trimmers and I hate them! They are not reliable, and unless you have a dog who will sit perfectly still like a statue, forget them! Way too hard to handle.
No ! go to the pet shop and buy some proper dog nail clippers with a nail guard to stop you cutting too much. Take great care not to cut too near the quick (white bit) or his nails will bleed and it will be painful. Our vet nurse does it at my vets but they charged me æ‹¢8 $16 dollars once ( highway robbers!!) so now I do it myself !!
At your local pet store they should sell special nail clippers.
You can also go to the vet and they will clip their nails for little or no cost.
TIP!!! If you clip the nails yourself DO NOT cut back too far. if the nails are white you will see pink towards the back...on dark nails in the back of the nail you will see like a different color. DO NOT CUT THAT PART! that part is nerves. and it will HURT them bad... think of you biting your nail and you pull it off and you see the pink....its like ripping half of your nail off.
Good Luck :)
I think dog nails would be hard to cut with human clippers because of the shape of there nails.
Do not use human clippers, they are not made for a dogs nails, why dogs nails have little veins in them..if you have never done this procedure before, please don't do it now
take dog to a groomer or a vet is better to have done, if you nick a vein, it may be bad enough it wont stop bleeding, and then will have to go to vet
no. bad idea. lol they r too thick so unless u have a vry small dog i wouldnt cuz u could make them bleed :(
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO鈥?br>
