My nail has a crack in it, but it is the part still on skin, will it fuse back together?

Its not going to go back together so you just have to either clip it off or be REALLY careful not to snatch it off.

Is it wise to start a nail salon in this economic situation?

First off we are not in an economic depression. We are only in recession. This means with the right decisions of our Government we have the chance to get out of it soon. I estimate 2010 we will be back to normal.

People are still opening their own businesses even today, regardless of what is going on. What you want to do is choose the right location in your area where you will be noticed and easy to get to. Picking the right hot spot in your area is so you can gain high volume customer traffic. Offer something in your salon to potential customers other competitors don't already do. Set your prices a little lower at first with prices are subject to change at any time.

If you have the ability to do so, I don't see why not. Don't be like other people who are paranoid and scared and running. It's the media that is causing all this attention and fear. If it helps I'm opening my own business now and I'm excited about it! Not fearing it! Just have the right plan and a back up plan. For instance, if I don't do well in my business I can always sell it.

I have the same problem year-round. I'm addicted to using lotion on my cuticles because of it. Instead of a few times a week, use it after every time you wash your hands. I put lotion on like 6 times a day.
You should use it more often, but for instant results, use carmex.

I keep it with me everywhere, and whenever I have frizzy hair or an icky nail, or when my eyebrows get red from tweezing and I have 5 minutes until I go somewhere, I use it, and it works instantly.

I love it.

Just rub it wherever your issue is, and its fantastic.

Plus its only like, 88 cents, so..get it in the pot tho, its less messy.

But if you still want to use your vitamin e stuff, use it more often, at least twice a day.

(In the morning and at night, or whenever your nails are particularily dry)

There are many good brands of nail polish. The secret is in the application. You want to start with clean, dry nails. Put on a clear base coat. After this dries, put on your color coat. Make sure you don't have too much nail polish on your brush by swiping it on the side of the container. Try to do the nail in three even strokes...left, right then middle. or conversely if you like. Then after this drys put on another coat of color. There are so many good brands, from Sally Hansen to Christian Dior, it depends on how much you want to spend. After your second coat dries, top it off with a layer of top coat.

Now the challenge is keeping your hands safe so they can completely dry. Keep them still so they wont get dented or smeared. You can fix any mistakes with a cuticle stick and a bit of cotton with nail polish remover on it. Be careful! After they have dried, put on a nice hand moisturizer. Voila! Beautiful nails.

well first just put any brand of nail polish on and then put this stuff on your nails called NAIL MAGIC and your nails will be healthier and grow faster and they wont chip!
OPI, but use a base coat and a top coat, the base coat should make it stick and the top coat will protect it.

Personally, I've always had good experiences with both OPI and Zoya colors.

Nail polish that is NOT quick-drying will wear better than its 60-second counterparts (has to do with the chemicals in it).

Also, when polishing your nails, wipe them quickly with either nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol right before you polish - this will get rid of any excess oil and will help your polish last longer.

Lastly, use a good top-coat. I like Orly's Won't Chip - smells horrible, but it WORKS!

Any polish will chip if your nails are not prepared well. Make sure you buff them with a nail buffer first, then base coat.

I have tried all kinds and OPI is the best by far. It's a little pricey but its worth the extra money because the polish looks so much better than other brands and lasts almost a week. Also, use a top coat to seal the polish - it will also make your nails really shiny.

Sure it's a habit -- or a ';tendency,'; if you like. Everyone has tendencies. Many can't take things seriously when they should -- that's their tendency. Some have to constantly ';catastrophize,'; or see the negative side of things, or obsess over security, etc.

When I'm considering how seriously to take a certain issue, I ask myself, ';How will it actually affect me?'; If the answer is, ';It won't,'; or ';Very little,'; what's the point of getting worked up over it? yeah im sure its just a state of mind and Im sure it definitely a habit...being serious can be good, ppl to take everything as a joke can be shallow and insensitvie and annoying.

I don't know what nail polish remover taste like, but wasabi taste very much like horseradish where the ';hotness'; hits the back of the thoat and clears your sinuses.

In fact, much of the wasabi we buy today is actually horseradish that has been dyed greed... Hence the relate to horseradish.

Having had wasabi paste in my mouth and NEVER having had nail-polish remover in my mouth, I cannot honestly compare the tastes. However, I did not notice any olfactory or other similarities with the odor of nail polish remover.

Wasabi provides a type ';heat'; that no other spicy condiment can provide. Its the kind that burns the hell out of your nose/sinuses, yet is gone just as quickly as it came on. No lingering FRIED taste-buds or scrambling with gallons of water to drink. It does, however, have a marked ';citrus'; tang to it which can be quite overwhelming so I understand why your ';buds'; have been questioning whether or not you've just drank nail polish remover. I happen to love wasabi, but it is definitely an acquired taste. If you don't care for it, you don't have to eat it. If you'd like to TRY and eat it again (especially with sushi), try mixing some with light soy sauce. It smooths out the texture/flavor and give the salty soy sauce a kick. Definitely worth a try!
No not at all but, the nasty pink pickled ginger on the side of it on the sushi plate tastes just like nail polish remover. It's just awful!!!!!!!!!!!
It doesn't taste exactly like that to me and though it depends on the kind you get if you get it in the tube it kind of reminds you of rehydrated chalk that's kind of hot and tastes like it has badly mixed powdered sugar in it.

to remove the glue the best way is to use very hot water and place ur fingers in it. then apply some moisturizing cream and acetone and it will be off immediately.

Hang fishing line, or rope, wall bracket, bike wheel, handle bars - anything the pole could sit on but not roll forward or fall, or wire the pole to what you use for a bracket

Fishing line from the ceiling or wall makes jersey look like it's floating, no visible framing

wrap ends of rod or handles if they show or if you want to be decorative, or string photos down from handle/rod

Trace a cardboard cutout the size of the jersey, slip it up from the bottom of the shirt, duct tape cardboard to pole so jersey does not sag

If it still sags, use those big office clips on the back or inside the jersey to straighten it out

Once you have this set up, you can change the jersey with the sports seasons and never damage the Jersey

You will have to assess the rest of his health. Are his joints in good shape? Is he over weight? Is he fairly active?

Dogs and cats both can do very well losing a limb. I had a 15 year old cat that lost a hind leg to cancer. He lived another 5 years and was very happy and mobile. He even got more active after the cancerous limb was removed.

This will be a discussion between you and your vet.

Too late now. If you want to let your dog live with you for a little longer, I suggest getting his leg off. It will take practice to get him to learn how to walk, but it's just like a human with one leg.

Some dogs are very healthy at 10 and some are very old at 10. Only you know your dog's attitude. Dogs normally do fine on 3 legs as long as they don't have other issues like bad hips or knees.

If it has gotten Gangrene, then you'll have to talk to the vet and weigh your options.

My dogs tend to live to 14 or so.
If the infection spreads into his blood it will kill him. Listen to your vet. Dogs do very well with 3 paws, even at his age.

TRUE STORY: Two summers ago i smashed mynail in a door. It turned immediatl black. Mine pushed out around October.(injured in July.)

It may be a while, I smashed my thumb at work between a sledge hammer and pavement. The nail went black instantly because there is dried blood under the nail, you have to wait for a new nail to grow from under the old one. Mine took about three and a half months before it was close to normal again. When the new nail starts coming in it will push the old one up, cut as much away with clippers then use the flat tool on most clippers to get as much of the blood out from under there as possible. Its does not feel to good but it speeds up the whole thing, good luck
New one is growing underneath, the smashed one will take long long time to fall off without even realizing by u. Just wait and see..
It'll continue to grow out as healthy nail grows. At some point, the ';dead'; stuff will come off and the new will continue to grow

well, after biting nails, they will become weak and break easily. believe me, i naturally have strong nails but due to my nervousness i've made them thinner. try and get this nail polish that makes them health and strong from a pharmacy, and just paint them a color and before you know it, they'll have grown :)
start taking vitamins and drinking more milk and water and believe it or not eating jello makes the nails grow too. keeping them clean helps also. try washing the dishes more .

That is a little longer than I would expect for this kind of injury. As long as you aren't diabetic and don't have peripheral vascular disease, I would have expected this to be healed by this stage.

if you have a open sore from the nail falling off putting some ointment on it will help it heal faster. The nail is going to take a long while to grow back so do clean and cover it initially.

If you've never done it before, you may want to go to your vet and have it done. However if your puppy still has the baby nails - not too thick, you can actually just take a pair of regular nail clippers and take small bits off until they are the length you want. Be sure not to take too much off, as you will cause her to bleed by hitting the quick.

you can see a definate groove in the nail, where the nail is attached to the paw, its thicker and then it thins out.. only go as far as the thin part goes and no further.. or if they're lighter colored nails you'll beable to actually see the nerve in the nail dont ever go past the nerve if you can see it other wise the safest bet is to cut off a little bit at a time but never go further then that groove i mentioned before!! but you definatly dont want to damage the nerve( also known as the quick) because it will bleed, and can cause pain to your puppy!! Definatly use a small nail clipper for dogs!!they're shaped to help prevent damaging the quick!!

And, really if it's your first time, your best bet would be taking her to the vet, they'll also bealbe to explaine to you better on how to do it, and maybe even help you try!! =]
I would suggest either taking your dog for it's first nail clipping to a vet or a groomer. The fee is usually under $10. The person that clips the nails can show you exactly how to do it and even give you a couple of pointers to make it easier.
Take her to the vet. They only charge a minimal fee, like $8. The vet can show you how to do it correctly! Take the nail clippers you have bought and have the vet use those so you know how you should hold the clippers and such.

make sure you always use a base coat so its protecting your nails . natural nails stain like mad and dark colours tend to stain in the cuticle area and get all over you when removing it!!!

It's staining your actual nail; I don't think there IS a good way to get it all off, except to let your nail regrow. Black nail polish can also encourage nail fungus to grow and flourish; fungus LIKES dark places, you know. You might want to limit your use of the black to very short periods and give your nails a rest, some fresh air and sunshine. Won't hurt the rest of you either! :)

Your best of first painting your nails with a clear, leaving to dry and then paiting with black. This way it won't stain your nails and will be much easier to get off.
it will probably take some time- but the next time you paint them black, use an undercoat and dont leave them black for so long between manicures, it sounds like you are staining your nails
Try using a good polish remover ....and you could get a fine buffing block at a beauty supply house to remove the stain............in the future .....Use a good base coat and then apply your polish ......and apply a good top coat to avoid chipping.......FYI you will not get fungus by wearing dark polish.....fungus/mold is caused by bacteria or moisture trapped either under a nail /or enhancement

Let me make sure that you have this right. Your parrot's nail came off and it is bleeding? Well I wouldn't think that super glue would be the best option.

Check the super glue label and see what it says. That will probably give you your answer.

If possible, I would try to take the super glue off and then hold a cloth or towel over the bleeding spot. It should clot up eventually.

Use a nail strengthener Revita Nails, many people I know used it and I have to say all of them would have great feedbacks about it.

Also ask them to buff lightly on the top of your nails and not to much. This can thin and weaken your nails.

Also they should be using natural nail filer.

There are special nail polishes in any local CVS that are designed to straighten nails. All you have to do next time you get a mani is either bring this polish with you or ask about their nail strengthening polishes. They can put this polish as a base coat, and then a normal color on top. Hope this helps =D

Try using Dr Lewinn stuff. I don't have the same problem but I know someone who did. She started using nail hardener from Dr Lewinn (it's a brand) and now her nails are really strong and never break.

Anything with an odor can be absorbed by your fingernails - I find that onions and garlic can leave odors behind no matter how much I wash my hands and how strong a soap I use. Well each nail takes different amount of time to grow, the slowest on to grow it the thumb. You could use a special nail polish to re-grow your damanged nail. Eating and drinking calcium helps your nails grown stronger and faster ! Also makes your hair grow too (:

';Pick at least one nail to ';protect'; at a time.

After a few days, an non-bitten nail will flourish and reward you. Do not bite it. If you must, bite one of the 'unprotected' ones. Sometimes it helps knowing that you have another nail to bite, even if you don't actually nibble at any unprotected ones.

Once you have grown your non-bitten nail for a while, start protecting another one. And another. And another, until every single nail is protected.

Eat calcium and magnesium - rich foods so that your nails will repair and grow well. Not only that, but most of the reason that the human body wants to bite nails is the lack of calcium and magnesium in the body and the body needs that material back.

Use what is best for you to do nails, but don't talk while doing the act. Birds know voices with the act. Always clip both wings. Never ever leave one wing undone without the other. Both wings should be clipped.

Don't do it yourself. If you have to ask on a website about clipping wings you obviously don't know enough about it to do it yourself. take the bird to a vet and they will do it properly.

Both wings. Cut only the primaries, the first 4-6 feathers on his wing. Use a sharp hair cutting scissors. Don't cut blood feathers; these have a waxy appearance on the shaft. If they do bleed, use syptic powder and pressure on the cut. Or, rip it out with needlenose tweezers. It won't hurt him.

Don't use nail clippers. Use a sanded perch.
You cut both wings using sharp scissors. nail clippers can be used for the nails, but it's better to get a cement perch., that way you don't cut the nails to short, and your bird will love you, not hate you for hurting it.

I get a can't find nail.exe prompt when I boot up. I dont know if it has anything to do with yahoo games not closing but they both started at the same time. When I try to close yahoo games the screen disappears but it stays in the bar at the bottom of the page. If I dont do ctrl-alt-del and close it it will freeze up my computer. Anti spy prygrams, typically toolbars write viruses to your system to make you inclined towards buying their product. Its obvious you have a virus/s on your system. Follow these steps to get rid of them.

Go to start and run msconfig

Deselect eberything in the Service and Startup tabs - this stops the viruses from loading. You'll have to restart your PC.

Go to Limewire.com and download Norton Anti virus and follow the instructions in the .txt file to get the program registered and running. Install Norton and restart your PC

Do a full system scan - Norton will get rid of the viruses on your system.

Run msconfig again and select everything in the Service and Startup tab - this reloads the virus/s and Spyware/Adaware.

Restart your PC - Norton will find the last remnants of the spyware etc and clean your system. Do another full system scan just to be sure.

Reboot your PC - you should be able to connect to the web and get Norton registered and your PC will be fully protected.

Uninstall all toolbars and any other anti virus software thats left.
Go to start, run, type MSCONFIG. Go to the general tab, and look for your said program, it will list as a start up item. Just check the option. Selective Startup and uncheck the option Load Statup items, now you do not neet to worry, if something will go bad. If you uncheck an item that has to stat up with windows, windows till add it back if it HAS TO BE THERE! IF things are still going bad for you, take it into a computer service shop. Revlon has has a nail polish that stays on. I think it is called colorstay or something like that.
Start with a base coat. Then do two coats of your color (make sure that the first coat is completely dry before applying the second. Then finish with a top coat. I use Mary Kay Top Coat %26amp; Base Coat ($6 each)
I would probably recommend putting on a base coat and top coat. Good ones can be bought from Sally Hansen. (Local ';drug store'; as they are called in America, or cosmetics store)
Honestly, sweetie, all of the above advice you received is GOOD advice. The same advice the professionals would give. Buuut, it has never worked for me. (I am female) I can not get the darn polish to stay on no matter what. The best method that I have found is to get a set of gel or acrylic nails put on. Now, people will say that is bad for your nails. Okay, SO is constantly using remover and rubbing alcohol and all of that!!! From what you said, it sounds like you are in drag quite often to be concerned with the state of your polish.(and good for you!!) So getting a set of nails will hopefully not impede on your male lifestyle? I promise you will be so satisfied with the results!!! Your polish will stay F O R E V E R!!! Good Luck!

After you put on your top coat, put a little on the bottom (underneath) your nail. Keeps it from chipping. Course your nails have to be a little long for this.
try cleaning your nails with rubbing alcahol fist to get rid of any oils and be sure to use a top coat.

Before you do your nails clean it with a nail polish remover or rubbing alcohol. After that put one coat of your nail polish on, let that dry and try not to do so much with them drying, then do a top coat. After that put a clear fast drying coat over that and let them dry. Make sure that they r all the way dry before you come into serious contact with anything though, because they may get messed up. :)

it's a nervous habit...i was a nail bitter but I successfully stopped for 32 days and the habit was broken...try as hard as you can to stop for about that amount of time. if you do then you should be able to quit indefinitely.studies have shown that it works
ya i know many people do that. just look at ur finger how horrible it is. think about when u r going to get engaged. ur fingers would look horrible. thinking this may keep u away from chewing ur fingers.

Wood and pumice perches are good for cockatiel's feet. They will exercise them and keep them in good condition. Concrete perches are good for keeping the nails trimmed. Sometimes concrete can irritate the bird's feet. You need to keep an eye on your cockatiel's feet if you use a concrete perch. I have one in some, but not all, of my parakeet and finch cages but I've never noticed any problems due to the perch. Don't use sandpaper perches because they are very hard on a cockatiel's delicate feet and can cause lesion, abrasions, and more. It's a good idea to have perches of different sizes and materials to let your cockatiel exercise all parts of its feet.Are concrete preches for my cockatiel bad for its feet? I consider them ';must haves'; for all of my parrots. I've had most of mine for over 12 years, with absolutely no problems what so ever. I haven't had to clip any nails in 12 years either.

Make sure you get the right size, and make sure it is the highest perch.
If it only has one perch that is concrete, that's good for the toenails. But if they don't have any natural wood perches. To be effective, place a concrete perch near the food/water and get other natural wood perches.

I smoke and I wear clear lip gloss and just a clear top coat. Although I am lucky enough to have naturally white nail tips. French tips look good. But if I did have to choose a colour I'd go dark, like maroon

It's illegal to claim that because it's impossible. Nothing can make nails (or hair) grow faster. It's called false advertising. But there are still companies that try to imply that if you buy their product, they will grow.

What the products can do is help keep your nails (or hair) stronger and healthier so that it doesn't break as easily. Technically it is illegal since it is impossible for the products to actually help grow nails. Many older make-up books talk about this being false advertising and the various laws related to sales of these types of products. But it is not upheld in any way.
